The Department of City Planning released the Zoning Code Evaluation Report on March 7, 2014 which analyzes the current Zoning Code against the following 7 themes as well as adopted City policy.

  1. Distinct Neighborhoods
  2. Housing Affordability and Diversity
  3. Centers and Corridors
  4. Transportation Choice
  5. Jobs and Innovation
  6. Code Delivery
  7. A Strong Core
  8. A Healthy City

This report outlines major criticisms of our current code and lays a general framework for the new zoning code resulting from re:code LA. This Report is available for your review by visiting:

Why should you care? Well, for one, because the new zoning code has the potential to positively improve the lives of every resident and business owner in Los Angeles. The Zoning Code Evaluation Report is filled with recommendations for improvements to existing regulations.

DCP is currently receiving public input on the report’s recommendations through May 2, 2014.
