The re:code LA team has been fairly quiet on our website and social media the last few months, but we can assure you that we’ve been hard at work. First, you may have noticed a "refresh" of our website. We have been drafting and refining what ultimately became known as the "R1 Variation Zones". We've also been simplifying and improving upon our existing workflows into a new “administration” section. Last but not least, we've been working side-by-side with other planning teams in building zoning tools for a variety of community planning efforts.

In a first for the City of Los Angeles, the City Council earlier this month officially approved the Department of City Planning’s proposed open source release of portions of the Web-based Zoning Code System. The releases, known as the WebCode Toolkit, are anticipated to be available in the summer of 2016 through the online software repository GitHub.
If you have been to any of our 7 public forums, you may be wondering how you can obtain the materials being presented at these events. Or maybe you haven't been to one yet, but are curious as to what you might expect to see.
